On our recent trip to Porto, we visited the historical city of Guimarães for a day up in the mountains. It’s an easy 75 minute train journey from São Bento station. Its historical centre is a UNESCO world heritage site, with medieval buildings. There’s even a castle. All in all, it’s pretty as a picture. This makes it the perfect day trip if you’re staying in Porto.

We’ve just got back from 5 days in Porto. OMG. I’m going to start this post by saying that Porto is brilliant. It’s too good. After our trip there, I haven’t stopped telling everyone I know that they HAVE to go.
