PRIVACY, DISCLOSURE AND GDPR COMPLIANCE

Rights and disclaimers

The information you will find on Pack The Suitcases is all correct at the time of writing and is intended for general informational purposes. Some of my posts are now quite old, so I cannot guarantee that everything is still correct. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

All photos and text content are property of Pack The Suitcases, unless otherwise stated. Content found on Pack The Suitcases may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used without the prior written permission of Pack The Suitcases.

Affiliates

Pack The Suitcases is a participant in the Booking.com Affiliate Programme and Awin, two advertising methods designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to things for you to buy through affiliated sites, mostly hotels, B&Bs and apartments. This covers various sites but mostly applies to Booking.com (UK).

Whether I use an affiliate link or not, all opinions are my own. I don’t link to any hotels etc that I wouldn’t recommend to one of my mates.

Privacy and GDPR compliance

GDPR protection means you have the right to be informed of how your data is collected and used, access data about yourself, ask that data about you be changed, and ask that data about you be deleted.

Pack The Suitcases does not and will not sell (or buy) personal data.

Any data gathered on Pack The Suitcase is only used to make the site better for you. I use Google Analytics, which collects cookies and logs your information so that I know how many people view the site, what my popular posts are, and which posts no one is interested in (most of them TBH).

Subscribing for email alerts for new posts on Pack The Suitcases means that you will get an email every time I post. This service is provided by Jetpack, which stores your email address securely. If you want to unsubscribe from the alerts, you can do so at any time either using the link in the newsletter emails or by contacting me directly. Once you’re out, you’re out. You will not be re-added to the mailing list, nor will your data be stored. I don’t want to speak to you ever again.

All posts on Pack The Suitcases have the option for you to leave a comment, which requires a name and email address so that I know who is leaving me all this abuse. The comment service is powered by WordPress. If you want to have your comments taken down, please get in touch and I’ll permanently delete them. When you leave a comment on a post, you will not be contacted without permission and your information will not be shared.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalised ads:

  • IP Address

  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
